Hands On Hartford

Faces of Homelessness

To request a Faces of Homelessness speaking event, please fill out our request form here.

The Faces of Homelessness Speakers’ Bureau travels throughout the state of Connecticut (and beyond) to share their own experiences of homelessness, dispel myths, educate audiences on the causes of homelessness, and encourage others to get involved in making positive changes in the community.

Host a Speaking Event

Anyone can host a Faces of Homelessness speaking event! It’s a great way to engage students, community groups, or professional staff in an educational and meaningful discussion about an important issue. The format, location and timing of events is flexible.  We are now hosting virtual speaking events to accommodate groups that are not able to attend in-person events.

Typical Events Include:

  • Overview of Homelessness
  • Speakers’ stories
  • Q & A session
  • Ways you can get involved

Feet on the Street

Feet on the Street is an experiential variation of a speaking presentation. Audience members engage with Faces of Homelessness speakers in a walking tour on the streets of Hartford and learn about the challenges people experiencing homelessness face. Feet on the Street includes a tour of a local shelter and can accommodate groups of all sizes.

To schedule a Feet on the Street walking tour, or for additional questions, please contact Kelly Dougherty, kdougherty@handsonhartford.org or 860-706-1520.
