Social Service Programs

Hands On Hartford’s three direct service programs provide food, housing, and educational opportunities to Hartford’s poorest residents.

Center for Youth, is an after-school academic and cultural enrichment program at Maria Sanchez and Ramon Betances Elementary Schools in Hartford. Center for Youth also offers Family Resource Centers and a summer arts program for children at both schools.

MANNA (Meals, Assistance, Neighbors, Nurturing, Advocacy) is a comprehensive basic needs program. It provides nutrition for homeless individuals, emergency food, fuel and assistance for families, and weekend meals for seniors.

Peter’s Retreat provides safe supportive housing and intensive case management for men and women living with HIV / AIDS who would otherwise be homeless. Peter’s Retreat stabilizes, enriches, and lengthens the lives of people living with HIV / AIDS.

Together, our programs strengthen our community, change lives, and renew human possibility. Our programs also build social capital in Greater Hartford, and beyond, through volunteer opportunities for civic engagement and organizational partnerships.
